East Coast Winery Bucket List

Wineries on the East Coast are known for producing some of the best wines in the country. Each winery has its unique story, making visiting them even more fun! This bucket list will give you all the information you need to take a day trip on this side of the country and explore what it offers.

1. Old Westminster Winery

The winery is run by three siblings and has become one of the most respected wineries in Maryland. The Old Westminster tasting room is open year-round, even during the off-season! Their tasting room hosts live music events every weekend from April through October! You also have a delicious tasting menu to pair with their wines. 

2. Boordy Vineyards

The Boordy Vineyards Estate & Winery is just off I-83, a short drive from Baltimore. Owned by the same family since 1980, the Boordy Vineyard is Maryland’s oldest winery. They offer 20 award-winning wines on their wine list, which includes both red and white varieties plus sweet wines for those that prefer something sweeter. You can also sample 3 to 4 different varietals during the daily wine tasting. 

3. Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard

Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard is located at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain near the Virginia border, a hub for wine lovers. It features a cozy tasting room with a great view, and you can get a tour of the vineyard. They’re famous for their French vinifera and grow only five red and five white grape varietals.

4. Harford Vineyard

Harford Vineyard is a family-owned winery in the heart of Harford County, Maryland. While this is the youngest winery in the county, they’ve already expanded its repertoire of wines to 13 styles. The winery already has some award-winning wines! Visitors can enjoy a wine-tasting experience in its rustic stone-accented barn or lounge by the barn’s side porch with picnic tables.

5. Fiore Winery

This small farm in northern Harford County has become an award-winning winery. Fiore offers several wine varieties, including reds, whites, sparkling wines, and grape juice for those who don’t want alcohol. Their tasting room features a small selection of light snacks, cheese plates, and charcuterie boards that pair well with their wines. This is one of the few wineries where dogs are allowed, so spend some time by the calm vineyard and relax. The tasting room is small, but you can spill over to other areas to enjoy a sample.

6. Legends Vineyard

Legends vineyard started as a hobby, but quickly escalated to one of the most famous vineyards in the area. Since opening, the wines produced at Legends Vineyards are available in more than 300 local retailers. With a capacity to seat 45 people, the wine tasting room is among the most spacious of the Harford wineries.
