1886 Victorian Mansion & 1860 Cottage with Woods in Western New York Film and event venue.
Welcome! Main house built in 1886 has 9 fireplaces, original stained glass windows, wood paneling. A large formal entry hall and 2 story stairway, with a small servants' wing and separate servant stair. Decorated in late Victorian style, has a walk-in safe-- a secret room with brick walls.
The property includes a smaller 1860s 2 story cottage on 5 acres-- 2 Victorian houses on one site! Large front, side and back yards feature beautiful lawns, with a parcel of woods in the back. House has a study, drawing room, dining room, butler's pantry, kitchen. Neighbors and power lines are hidden by trees, back yard borders on woods with no houses, easily appears like another era. Quiet, no planes or freeway noise. Amish area with horses and carriages.
Production office with wifi available on site. Ample street parking, and room for crew parking & generator behind the house. The property is undergoing renovations and currently perfect for horror/suspense-- a huge basement with spooky antique furnace, forest with tall trees, some beautiful Victorian sections, some abandoned/disaster (separate areas that close off) The property includes two houses, perfect for cheating multiple locations.
Located 75 miles from a major city/airport [both Buffalo & Rochester] and a 5 hour drive from both NYC and Philadelphia. Will work with your budget, if you're not sure you can afford it, please ask. Open to doing flat fees and reserving the whole property, owner has worked in film for 20 years and understands production's needs. Insurance cert is a must.
Repairs are still ongoing, so I have both beautiful Victorian and condemned rooms, perfect for horror, etc. I have a murder mystery film coming in early April, but am open after that.
I am very budget-friendly and open to negotiable rates, it was actually less expensive for the April shoot to come here than to stay in the city and pay those day rates. I also offer the use of catering equipment and a full kitchen for craft service, plus a production office with wifi. I'd love to book some more shoots this summer/fall, please keep me in mind for spooky/Victorian.
I recently purchased the property, so it's currently unfurnished and needs some repairs-- some flaking paint, utilities repaired, etc. but for a horror film with a honey-wagon and generator, it would be perfect. Budget-friendly! I will work with productions on their budget. I've worked in film for 20 years, so I understand production needs, and in the members area of my website there are more photo galleries and local vendor lists for everything in that area from gear to crew and shopping.
It is 75 miles from the Buffalo & Rochester airports [equidistant] and a 5 hr drive from both NYC and Philadelphia. It's moments off of a major highway, but you'd never know it because you can't see or hear the highway. Very quaint town and countryside, classic NY state with forests and fields. Very green in summer, very picturesque winters with some snow.
