This is a Spanish Style, one-story duplex property (owner-occupied on one side). The building itself is 2448 square feet. Remodeled detached garage where a long, narrow driveway ends. Garage is for one car with a carport attached to it which is normally used as a covered backyard patio. Backyard has a number of fruit trees including an old avocado tree along with a very tall palm tree that can be seen from a couple of blocks.
Both houses have décor-only fireplaces with vintage-antique tile that are the focal points of the living rooms, built by Pasadena designer Ernest Bachelder. The rental side has the original built-in curio cabinet and both homes also have the original built-in book shelves in the living room next to the fireplaces. Kitchens have been remodeled but the rental has the original restored hardwood floors. Original vintage windows and glass doors in both living rooms still in tact.
Two of the front doors are glass with mostly original hardware. Knobs on doors and drawers are glass and have been restored to the full beauty. The garage has been remodeled to today's codes and standards. Roof has been recently redone completely just three months ago. Attic and floor insulation installed for the very first time in the property's history. Central heating and A/C in larger unit. Wall furnace in smaller unit. Guest, cast and crew accommodating.
The driveway was made for the Ford Model-T's but can still fit a large SUV. The front yard has been revised to have extra parking when necessary with red and pewter square patio stones laid out in a design fitting for the property's curb appeal and all the while helps us conserve water and save on landscaping expenses.
Our street has been panned in the beginning of an old Don Knotts or Jerry Lewis movie from the 40's or 50's. The Hollywood sign can be seen clearly when standing on the top of the flat roof.
